This year the students will arrive later in the evening so that everyone can enjoy dinner one last time as a family.

We will NOT be serving dinner but the students will receive a hardy evening snack.

The bowling alley has an awesome bar menu that students may order off of at their OWN expense or feel free to eat as a family once you and your student have arrived.

We are scheduling times for all students to arrive at the Bowling Alley, (please click here for your time) allowing for those quite a distance away to arrive a little later in the evening. Please try to arrive during the time listed so we don’t have a back up of students at any one time. You may arrive any time during the 45-minute span allotted for your group. Parents are asked to stay at least until the student has checked in and the luggage has been checked. You may stay as long or as short of a time that you wish until 9:00PM. We will expect you to leave at the end of that period and we will call for all students in the group to leave the common area at 9:00 PM.

You are to meet at the West side entrance of the Bowling Alley.

There will be a luggage weigh-in station at the entrance. If your student is over the designated size/weight requirements s/he will be asked to adjust their luggage to meet the requirements.

(The luggage requirements seem to be changing daily, is imperative that you check luggage requirements for airlines and what additional fees that may be assessed.). Any items that must be removed will be sent home with you. Please keep this in mind when helping your student pack for the return home. Any information we have given to you to date may have changed and calling the airlines to see if luggage rulings may be different for student as they are traveling in groups. To find specific requirements for each airline you can go to www.seatguru.com. Double check and print off a copy for your student to have.

AFS is telling us that each student may have two pieces of checked luggage, no heavier than 50 lbs and one carry on. They did not state if there would be a charge for second bag.

Just a reminder, we (the Area Team)

do not

have the students' travel information, that is taken care of by the student’s home country and their natural parents receive the information as they will be making the arrangements for pick up on their end. When checking airline requirements airlines will, for them most part, be the same airline that the student flew here on.

Also, please remind your student to make sure that they carry some money or a credit card in case there is a need for money while traveling or if they would like to purchase additional food at the bowling alley. We provide an evening snack for the kids but in the past a number of students snacked throughout the evening on their own. The bowling alley has a great menu of sandwiches and salads. They also have a game room so cash works best at the bowling alley.

THANK YOU to all our host parents. You have had to transport your student to many different activities. I imagine this has seemed like a lot but it has enhanced your student’s year here. We wish you well in the next few weeks and will see you on June 28.
